LE MANOIR

Built between 1830 and 1840, Le Manoir was a hunting and farming estate for almost a century.

Acquired in the 1920’s by its current owners, this beautiful Provencal mansion, with its white turreted facades, was gradually converted into a hotel (July 1948), respecting the surrounding nature and the nobility of the site.

An exceptional

setting

Le Manoir comprises around twenty rooms and apartments, some with private terraces, facing south on a large enclosed park of eucalyptus, oleanders and hundred-year-old palms.

We savor the old-fashioned charm of the place, and as night falls, only the song of the little owl disturbs this peaceful serenity.

A Provencal country house

with colonial character

Le Manoir has preserved the old-fashioned, peaceful charm of the residences of yesteryear : a family welcome, discreet service and a limited number of guests…

You’ll enjoy a timeless atmosphere that’s often a welcome change of scenery.

« Captive in their isolation, but open to the infinite on the open sea, islands often offer the temptation of a better place to bring our dreams to life. »

« l’Esprit de l’île » Pierre Buffet – Éditions Claire Paulhan

THE HOTEL

Double, triple rooms, more family-friendly duplexes and two small houses for even more space and privacy.

With their timeless charm, our 23 rooms and outbuildings all overlook the Manoir’s century-old park or gardens, each with its own atmosphere and spread throughout the main bastide, with the exception of the two small houses.

For a true vacation for body and soul, half-board is the ideal choice.

With an energetic breakfast served between 8:00 and 10:00 a.m. to get the day off to a gentle start. Dinner is served between 7:45 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., so you can enjoy the spectacular sunsets.

A HAVEN

Of peace

Three hundred meters separates the small port of Port-Cros from the hotel ;
Set back from all traffic, the Manoir estate offers its guests an enchanting setting :

  • Large terraces overlooking the sea or meadows, where meals are served al fresco ;
  • A rustic bar with a sheltered garden shaded by eucalyptus trees, ideal for reading and relaxing ;
  • A vast swimming pool, reserved for hotel residents, stretches out on a sunny beach sheltered by shale walls and oleander hedges.

A haven of peace where you can sometimes wander between the vegetable garden, stone terraces and fields without encountering anyone, apart from a peaceful donkey that inspires a sense of immutable eternity.
An ideal setting for a feeling of total disconnection…

Keeping to our old-fashioned way, there are no televisions or mini-bars in the rooms, and Wi-Fi is available on the first floor of the hotel and in the bar.

After the departure of the last boat, the island’s private nature blooms again.

Many writers have been inspired
by Port-Cros, which offers a serene setting
for the creative imagination.

THE RESTAURANT

Nestled at the far end of Port-Cros bay, overlooking the sea opposite the islet of Bagaud, just a stone’s throw from the port, the restaurant’s terrace offers an idyllic setting : turquoise furnishings, pale pink tablecloths, white canvas parasols…

Bordered by a vast park of century-old trees and oleanders, the tables face the sea in this site of unspoiled beauty.

While you wait for the ritual bell announcing the start of the meal, you can sit under the cool eucalyptus trees in the bar’s bucolic garden.

The restaurant offers a Mediterranean-inspired menu, with a predilection for seafood : grilled lobster and wild fish, giant prawns flambéed in pastis… but also quality French meats. Accompanied by local vegetables, tian à la provençale, eggplant confit, sautéed zucchinis with garlic… and herbs from the kitchen garden.

Our cellar offers a diverse range of wines, from major appellations to small local estates, to ensure the perfect match for your dishes.
To round off your meal, our gourmet desserts will delight your taste buds.

Simple, natural cuisine that pays tribute to the flavors of Provence.

The restaurant is open from the 8th of May
to the end of September 2024,
from 12:45 to 2:00 p.m. and from 7:45 to 9:00 p.m.,
by reservation only : +33 4 94 05 90 52.

In high season at lunchtime,
we advise our guests preferring to dock
by private boat to arrive before 12:00 p.m., as
the small port has a limited number of berths.

PORT-CROS

A wild island

of unspoiled beauty

Some fifteen kilometers from the mainland, the smallest and most mountainous of the Golden Islands extends over 650 hectares (4 km long by 2.5 km wide).

Nestled in a dark green setting of oak, Aleppo pine and heather, Port-Cros is surrounded by often steep coastlines and several wild islets.

The harbor, which backs onto a tiny village in the colors of terre-de-Sienne, exudes a strange exoticism.

Created in 1963, Port-Cros National Park is a sanctuary for Mediterranean biodiversity, a wild island of unspoiled beauty and intoxicating fragrances.

WHAT TO DO

IN PORT-CROS

The walks

No cars or bicycles on the 30 kilometers of hiking trails offering magnificent walks in the forest, along the seafront, in shady valleys or on ridge paths overlooking the infinite maritime horizon.

Stroll through oak groves, Aleppo pines, arbutus trees, Mediterranean myrtles… and you’ll sometimes catch a glimpse of the birds that populate the island : gulls, shearwaters, cormorants, falcons, scops owls, kingfishers…

Magnificent remnants of a turbulent past, five forts dominate the island of Port-Cros : le Moulin, l’Estissac, l’Eminence, la Vigie and, at the extreme eastern tip of the island, fort de Port-Man.

The Fort de l’Estissac (15 minutes from the village) is open to the public during the summer season, and houses an exhibition and a terrace with a magnificent panorama on the roof of the fort.

Wild beaches

Three small beaches and a few coves will give you the chance to swim with a shoal of sea breams, admire the red gorgonians and perhaps come across a brown grouper.

About 30 minutes’ walk :

The southern beach, with its fine sand and translucent water, resembles a lagoon.

La Palud beach offers a lovely tamarisk-shaded area, the starting point for the underwater trail.

The pebble beach at Port Man, at the tip of the island, is the longest and furthest from the village (1:30 a.m. walk), but once in the mistral-protected bay, it’s a well-deserved paradise.

Scuba diving

If you prefer scuba diving, Port-Cros offers some of the most beautiful sites in the Mediterranean, from the islet of La Gabinière to the mythical wreck of the Donator.
The purity of the turquoise water, the quality of the rocky and sandy seabeds and the absence of pollution will enable beginners and experienced divers alike to get close to one of the 180 species of fish that roam the island (Sun Plongée in the village).

Rental

You can also explore the island from the sea, by renting canoes at the harbor.
Book by phone on +33 4 94 05 90 43 (Hostellerie Provençale) or at the village grocery store.

« Port-cros is an island
with a marked insular character.
It’s very clear that nature
is in charge, not man. »
